San Diego council adopts 45-day moratorium on new data centers
The San Diego City Council voted unanimously on Oct. 27 for a 45-day moratorium on permitting, approving and developing data centers within city limits, which the council can extend, KPBS reported. KPBS tied the vote to a proposal from Manchester Financial Group for a 400-megawatt data center at the Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR) site in Old Town. City staff have 180 days to develop preliminary recommendations through a stakeholder working group, and the council plans to amend the city’s land development code next year, per KPBS.

About the art. Desert pupfish (Cyprinodon macularius). Endangered, US Endangered Species Act (listed 1986). Its desert springs, streams and marshes have been lost or degraded, and introduced non-native fish prey on it and compete with it, per the US Fish and Wildlife Service. (source) We run an endangered species from the story's region on every data center story; the animal is not part of this story unless the story says so. Why we do this.
