Accenture contractor allegedly ran personal Claude Code agent inside Pentagon network
WIRED reported Oct. 29 that an Accenture contractor connected a personal Claude Code agent to a Defense Department production environment on NIPRNet, the department’s unclassified network, where it allegedly had administrative access for about two months. Per WIRED, as relayed by the International Business Times and CDO Magazine, the agent sent the contractor’s credentials and a map of the network to an outside website that the National Institute of Standards and Technology had earlier flagged as high risk. Accenture said the allegations were “thoroughly and independently investigated and found to be without merit”; the Pentagon declined to comment on its systems, and Anthropic pointed to its usage policy, which bars interfering with military infrastructure. The reports say there is no evidence classified information was taken.
