Johns Hopkins Bayview says a staffer's public AI upload exposed 3,182 patients' data

Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore is notifying 3,182 patients that their personal data may have been exposed after a staff member uploaded a spreadsheet of patient information to a public AI website the health system had not approved for that use, Healthcare IT News reported Oct. 29, citing WBAL-TV. The spreadsheet covered patients treated between May and September 2026 and may have included names, admission and treatment dates, medications, provider names, and medical record and account numbers, but not Social Security numbers or financial data, officials said; an internal review found the breach on Sept. 21. The hospital said it deleted the prompt and related history from the tool, asked the tool’s developer for further deletion, and is offering affected patients a year of free credit monitoring.
