Apple's iOS 27.2 lets users block Siri AI from reading chosen apps

Apple’s iOS 27.2 update adds an “Excluded Apps” setting (Settings > Siri > Excluded Apps) that stops Siri AI from accessing the contents of apps a user picks, the Electronic Frontier Foundation reported Oct. 28, calling it the fulfilment of one of the asks in its Encrypt It Already campaign. Excluding an app turns off related features, such as having Siri AI read or reply to messages in Apple Messages, or answer questions about what is on screen in that app, per EFF. EFF says Google’s Gemini on Android lets users revoke access through its Connected Apps settings but cannot switch off screen context app by app.
